Our Story

Jars of Clay Co is an organic tallow skincare company with our products being made locally in Meridian, Idaho. From rendering our own grass-fed tallow to formulating each product, to pouring and labeling each jar, all our products are handcrafted in small batches with intention and care. We began with sourcing our tallow from our own pasture raised cows, but as the demand increased, we realized we needed to find a local source. We now source our tallow from a local, small family farm. Every ingredient is thoughtfully sourced, every product is intentionally formulated and made by us, because quality matters. We believe that the work of our hands is an offering of worship, and through our products, we strive to reflect the love, patience, and care that God calls us to embody. Rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, tallow closely mimics the skin’s natural oils, making it deeply nourishing and incredibly supportive for sensitive skin and damaged skin barriers, and most importantly, it actually works.  

The name "Jars of Clay Co." is inspired by the Biblical passage from 2 Corinthians 4:7: “But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.” This verse reminds us that we are empty vessels that only God can fill and that our strength that comes from the Lord. Our hope is that through each of our tallow products, you experience the richness of God’s provision, care, and creative design.

Jars of Clay Co was born out of a journey to find an organic, chemical free cream that the anyone could use. I spent a number of years working as a medical assistant in the dermatology department which is where my interest in skin/skincare began. I saw firsthand that all the conventional skincare products were filled with synthetic ingredients and toxic chemicals that were harming the skin rather than healing it. One of my daughters had been struggling with eczema and dry/sensitive skin since she was 4 yrs old, which further increased my interest in truly clean, natural skincare - no harsh chemicals, no synthetic fragrances, no compromises. 

Making tallow products has become a passion for me and I now get to share it with others.  Tallow cream is what I like to call simplified skincare. It has positively impacted my skin and whipped tallow cream is the only product I use.  It brings me great joy and satisfaction to share with others a product I strongly believe in, especially when hearing from you, our customers, how our tallow creams have simplified your skincare routine, and the positive effects it has had on your skin.  

The mission of Jars of Clay Co. is to harness the nourishing power of tallow for radiant, healthy skin, and to help people move away from synthetic skincare and return to real, natural, effective ingredients.  We truly believe that these are some of the highest quality tallow creams available, made with care by someone who genuinely cares about what goes on your skin.
